Furious 7, Pop Culture State of the Union

furious 7

Hey listeners, we have a podcast episode this week unlike any we’ve ever done before. It’s a little longer, but that’s because in addition to our chat about Furious 7 and the Fast/Furious franchise in general, we had a bit of a Pop Culture State of the Union.

What’s that? Oh, well really it’s us just catching up on everything that’s been piling up in the news surrounding new shows and movies coming out soon, along with updates on shows and movies we never saw coming. Enjoy!

Thanks for listening, and don’t forget to rate and subscribe Now Conspiring on iTunes!

This week on the Now Conspiring podcast, Adonis and I share our thoughts about Home, the latest DreamWorks movie that feels like it’s ripping off Lilo and Stitch 13 years too late. We also talk about the strange similarities between DreamWorks movies and Will Ferrell movies. As in, we can’t decide how to like them.

Hope you enjoy the show. If you do, consider rating us on iTunes (and subscribing if you haven’t already). We appreciate your awesome words, and all feedback is good feedback when you’re a podcast about conspiring.

Fan Theories We Actually Don’t Hate

On this special episode of the Now Conspiring podcast, we talk fan theories. Mainly, the ones we totally believe should be real. They’re all pretty solid except for mine.

We also review Divergent Series: Insurgent and cover some fun trivia surrounding the film. Stick around for our Netflix Recommendation of the Week, and we finish the show with new Movie Releases we’re looking forward to this upcoming weekend.

Is Cinderella The Best Live-Action Fairy Tale Movie?

Hey conspirers! This week on the podcast, we talk Cinderella, the latest Disney fairy tale movie to grace the big screen. Critics have been pretty kind to the film, but does it stand out amidst the ranks of Red Riding Hood, Jack the Giant Slayer, Snow White and the Huntsman, Alice and Wonderland, last year’s Maleficent…OK, maybe the competition isn’t so stiff.

On TWIL (this week I learned), we share some of our favorite YouTube channels for mocking our favorite movies, as well as the recent news on Popeye. Stick around for the Netflix Recommendation of the Week, as well as new Movie Releases for this coming weekend.

Our Song of the Week is “Our Own House” by Misterwives (yes, they do a song besides “Reflections” and I argue it’s better).

Enjoy the show, and don’t forget to rate and subscribe us on iTunes if you haven’t already! We always appreciate your feedback.

chappie review

Hey conspirers, this week things had to go a little differently for the show. Due to our busy schedules, the podcast crew was unable to get together, so I’ll be flying solo for today’s short, but hopefully sweet, episode.

You’ll notice right away the audio is a little awkward toward the beginning. Apologies…I wasn’t able to use a microphone, and other excuses happened (but it gets better).

As the title implies, I delve into a review for Chappie that tries to explain the bizarre polarization coming from critics for the movie. I have my own theories about that, so hopefully you can get the big picture. I also share my thoughts on the newest Avengers: Age of Ultron trailer you can view here in case you haven’t seen it yet for some weird reason.

I also talk about my recent Guardians of the Galaxy theory about how “Awesome Mix” tells a hidden story about Peter Quill’s dad. I don’t really talk about the theory as much as I talk about the unexpected reaction I got from it. Take from it what you will, I suppose.

Song of the Week: “Mine” by Phoebe Taylor. Her music is as cool as her hair.

Question of the Week: Do you think it’s smart for D.C. to throw all of their big characters at us so quickly with Batman vs. Superman: Dawn of Justice?

So our question of the week is pretty simple! What is the best Will Smith movie in your opinion? Let us know your thoughts in the comments!

In our new segment, TWIL (this week I learned), we each bring our own news story in the world of entertainment that you might find pretty interesting. Links below.

As always, we serve up our Netflix Recommendation of the Week and finish the show with movie releases for this coming weekend.

What Happened To High School Teen Comedies?

(Click here to download the episode)

With high school comedy The DUFF releasing this weekend, the Now Conspiring podcast team thought it would be useful to discuss how the whimsical teen comedies we love from the 80s and 90s basically went instinct as we entered the early 2000s.

There’s a conspiracy afoot.

We have a special guest this week! Luis Rodriguez joined us this week to discuss his experience at the Hot Tub Time Machine 2 world premiere, and of course a review. We also review The DUFF and chat about McFarland USA briefly.

Later in the show, we discuss our personal picks for the Oscars, including a lengthy discussion about Aquaman’s new look as released this week for the Justice League movies. Also, what is the hidden meaning behind “Unite the Seven?” Theories!

Stick around for our Netflix Recommendation of the Week, as well as our preview of the new movies coming out this weekend that you should check out.

That song you hear during the top of the show is Passion Pit’s latest single, “Lifted Up (1985).” Their new album, Kindred, comes out April 21st.

Enjoy the show, and don’t forget to rate and subscribe to the show on iTunes if you like us alright!
