Are Critics Wrong about Beauty and the Beast and Iron Fist? – Cinemaholics

On the latest Cinemaholics, Will Ashton and I review Beauty and the Beast and Season 1 of Iron Fist. In doing so, our main question is whether or not critics and audiences are right to be so divided on these movies.

Later, we dig into some mini reviews for Big Little LiesThe Legend of Zelda: Breath of the Wild on Nintendo Switch, and Wilson, which stars Woody Harrelson. Hope you enjoy our ranting.

YOU TELL US: Do you think Beauty and the Beast and Iron Fist deserve their mixed reviews? And what did you think of either of them?

Email us your feedback so your voice can be heard next week: cinemaholicspodcast [at] gmail.com

Which is Better? ‘Monsters Inc.’ VS ‘Shrek’

On the latest Pixar Detectives, Kayla Savage and I tried to somehow choose between Monsters Inc. and Shrek in the most unbiased as possible way. To help, our live audience supplied some awesome arguments and counterarguments in this week’s edition of Which is Better?

Of course, we’re not content to rest on the laurels of the debate in this video. Let us know in the comments below which movie you think deserves the acclaim and why. ‘Lou’ Is The Next Pixar Short Film. Here’s Everything We Know – The Pixar Detectives

Every week, Kayla Savage and I do a live show that’s all about Pixar (and Disney). This week was a “Pixar News Roundup,” because we had a ton of announcements and stories to share about various Emeryville happenings.

Our main topic of conversation was Lou, the next short film by Pixar that will be attached to Cars 3. We shared a ton of good info on what the short is about, how it weirdly connects to Toy Story (sort of), and why we think it’s one of the more original projects Pixar has done in a while.

We also discussed the Annie Awards, the Pixar Art Collection, and more, finishing it all out with a Pixar Trivia Challenge…

Oh, and we gave away an awesome Pixar Valentine’s gift: an “Our Adventures” book based on Up! If you want to enter our weekly giveaways, be sure to tune in live every Wednesday at 7:00 p.m. (Pacific). Follow the link below or just click the video above. We give away Pixar-related goodies like shirts, books, blu-rays, and tons more. And we’re always open to new suggestions for prizes you all might be interested in!

What If ‘La La Land’ Were A Pixar Movie? – The Pixar Detectives

This week, The Pixar Detectives (Jon Negroni and Kayla Savage) went live from Lake Tahoe (live audience for the win!) to illustrate La La Land as a Pixar movie, taking your suggestions along the way for other Oscar movies deserving of the Pixar treatment.

Kayla walked us through tons of illustration tips, the devices we used, the app you’re seeing in the video, and more. And as always, we read your comments live and did a short Disney song challenge at the end of the show to close everything out.

Oh, and we gave away a Pizza Planet T-Shirt! If you want to enter our weekly giveaways, be sure to tune in live every Wednesday at 7:00 p.m. (Pacific). Which is Better: ‘Zootopia’ or ‘Moana?’ – The Pixar Detectives

Both Disney films have been nominated for Best Animated Feature in the upcoming Oscars, but which one will and win? And probably more importantly, which should win?

Kayla Savage and myself took to Super News and discussed live. We answered all of your burning comments, as always, and as a special bonus this week, we’re offering a second giveaway prize for those of you who can’t make it live! To enter for consideration, go to Super News on Facebook and leave a comment now. The drawing ends soon.

We’ll be off next Wednesday, so I’m planning to do a different video coming out at around the same time. See you then, and don’t forget to check out The Pixar Detectives live every Wednesday at 7:00 p.m. (Pacific) to hang out with us and talk about Disney and Pixar!

Also as a bonus (and because of the strong reaction to last week’s live stream), be sure to check out the latest video from SuperCarlinBros below, where they also chat about Disney allegedly “confirming” the Pixar Theory. Enjoy!

Did Disney Confirm The Pixar Theory? – The Pixar Detectives

As many of you know, I wrote the Pixar Theory several years ago, detailing why I think every Pixar movie might be connected and how they broadly tell an overarching story outside the movies.

A few weeks ago, Disney Pixar shared a video on social media that takes you through a sampling of their Easter eggs in many of their films, and since then, some have called this out as “confirmation” that the theory is totally true…even though that’s clearly not the case.

The video is a lot of fun and definitely celebrates the recent spike in interest over these easter eggs, but there’s no indication made by this video or Disney Pixar that the movies are “connected” or share the same universe. And honestly, it’s a lot more fun that way, in my opinion.

In this week’s episode of Pixar Detectives, Kayla Savage and I dug a bit deeper into this subject, answering a ton of Pixar Theory questions along the way and giving away copies of my book, which expands a great deal on the original blog post from 2013.

Hope you enjoy the show, and don’t forget to like Super News on Facebook to watch our show live, every Wednesday at 7:00 p.m. (Pacific). If you tune in and comment with us live, you might be able to win our weekly giveaway, too!
