The First Teaser For ‘Batman V Superman: Dawn of Justice’ Will Be a Trailer For ‘Jupiter Ascending’

batman v superman teaser

Sandy Schaefer | Screen Rant:

Director Zack Snyder wrapped production on the film Batman V Superman: Dawn of Justice late last year, partly completing the next brick in the wall for DC’s Shared Film Universe (after Snyder’s Superman reboot, Man of Steel) in the process. A teaser clip for the superhero movie debuted at the San Diego Comic-Con in 2014, but since principal photography was completed, the wait was been for a theatrical teaser trailer to be unveiled.

We’re now hearing that will happen when Warner Bros. launches it first major tentpole of the new year, in the Wachowskis’ big-budget sci-fi Jupiter Ascending…

It’s easy to assume that Warner Bros. just wants people to watch Jupiter Ascending, and this teaser will create a bit of hype. But how many people out there are actually willing to pay to see a movie just to watch a teaser a day before its free on the Internet?

Unless you’re already psyched to see Jupiter Ascending for some reason.

First Trailer For ‘Star Wars: The Force Awakens’ Has The Droid We’re Looking For.

Just. Wow.

Lots of fun, inventive ideas here. I’m especially glad they strayed from dwelling on the old characters, aside from the Falcon, in favor of the next generation (and future of the franchise).

Still wish we knew who that Sith was (my money’s on Adam Driver). He’s probably an Inquisitor (see Star Wars: Rebels), and my theory for that cross-lightsaber is that it’s so powerful, it exhausts extra power. Or it just looks cool.

First Pitch Perfect 2 Trailer: The Pitch Is Back

As a movie, this will probably be terrible. But as a comedy and guilty pleasure, it will probably be brilliant.

Also, props to YouTube star Flula for earning his part in this.

First Trailer For ‘Minions’ Shows A World Before Gru.

Honestly, I’ve never been the biggest fan of the Despicable Me franchise. I fell asleep during the sequel.

So when Illumination announced that there would be a standalone movie focusing only on the minions (AKA everyone’s Halloween costume last year), I rolled my eyes like many other people.

New Trailer For ‘The Spongebob Movie: Sponge Out Of Water’

I can’t remember the last time I was excited about anything related to one of my favorite cartoons as a kid. Actually yes I can. Ahem

“Spongebob” became a cultural icon in the early 2000s for a reason. The combination of fluid animation, hilarious writing, and unforgettable characters accompanied by incredible voice talent cemented the show as a classic.

But a lot of people don’t realize that the (pelvic) thrust of the show’s success had a lot to do with the man who created it: Stephen Hillenburg. The man was fittingly a marine biologist before conceptualizing the show in 1999, and he’s responsible for much of the show’s early success.

Sadly, and for reasons we won’t get into, he departed from the show creatively after the release of the first Spongebob movie in 2005.

After that, the show took a dip in quality due to his absence (though that is ultimately subjective). Despite this, the show’s laurels allowed it to finish out the decade with increasingly good episodes as the team adapted to a new phase for the show.

This movie signals, I think, a return to form for the people who still make the show. Yes, it caters to an ever-younger audience by trading edgier content for cheap laughs. But this trailer shows that the spirit of this character and his oceanic pals is able to find new ways to keep older audiences like me watching.

Also, the animation is terrific. Bring on the new Spongebob movie, Nickelodeon.

If FROZEN Was A Horror Film

So yesterday, I shared a fun genre-bending movie trailer that turned X-Men: First Class into a High School comedy. Today, I thought it would be fun to extend that idea to 2013 new classic, Frozen.

Surprisingly, the film actually lends itself really well to being…well, creepy. The trailer actually had me fooled, even though I was aware of what it really was the entire time. Take a look for yourself (if you dare):

Watch The First Five Minutes Of ‘How To Train Your Dragon 2’

The upcoming sequel to How to Train Your Dragon won’t be arriving in theaters until June, but that won’t stop us from getting a quick sneak preview of the first 5 minutes.

Judging by this short intro and the trailers so far, this is shaping to be one of DreamWorks Animation’s best films yet, and that’s not just because they found a way to incorporate sheep-stealing into dragon racing.

Check out the first 5 minutes of How to Train Your Dragon 2 below!

Obviously, it was a treat to see what’s changed in the 5 years since the Vikings allied with the dragons. As Hiccup explains it, the dragons have moved in and become part of everyday life for the Vikings, and it was great to see what the gang has been up to lately, though Hiccup was mostly absent until several minutes in.

From what we can see, Hiccup has been exploring the world with Toothless and has even taken up cartography. This will no doubt play into the plot of the film, which I’m definitely expecting to be just as good as the original film.

How to Train Your Dragon 2 flies into theaters June 13, 2014.
