Since the initial release of The Pixar Theory, there have been countless changes and updates to the Pixar Theory timeline. Since it can get a little complicated (and nutty), I put together a new and improved outline that follows the book and includes all of the recent and upcoming Pixar movies. Enjoy!
Keep in mind that this is not the full theory. There’s plenty I don’t go over here and there are many missing connections between movies I don’t bring up, so if you want the full Pixar Theory experience with connections, Easter eggs, and explanations for what’s going on, click here to check out the book.
Otherwise, enjoy this full look at the Pixar Theory Timeline, starting with The Good Dinosaur.

BEGIN PART 2

And that’s the Pixar Theory timeline. In a nutshell. A very very very long nutshell. Hope you enjoyed reading it as much I did laying it out, and if you have any questions, confusions, or frustrations, feel free to hit me up in the comments or dig into the full book, which does a lot more to explain what in the world is going on in this timeline.

There actually were humans in A Bug’s Life. If you recall the scene where Flik and the Princess run into a pair of wasps at a picnic (laid out by humans), one of the wasps get struck by a fly swatter (by a human), and then Flik and the Princess are trapped in gum under somebody’s (a human’s) shoe, and then removed with a penny and thrown into the trash. The pile of trash also imply that there are humans alive during that time to generate the garbage. It could be possible that this was part of the rebuilt of life on earth after Wall-e, and that humans and animals/insects shared the same world. We see evidence of humans actually living on earth during the credits of Wall-e.
That was the movie Antz.
The scene you’re thinking of is from Antz.
That was the movie Antz, not A Bugs Life. I don’t blame you I often confuse the two myself
I respect your opinion but he does say that there are humans just not very many of them please respect my opinion
Plus your talking about ants
What about Tinkerbell she is Pixar
That was ANTZ!!! That’s not even a Pixar movie!!!
I still wonder if the early experiments with the Will O Wisps supercharged the Supers during the time of the Incredibles. (This would be just before she went off in time the first time through her door;.)
This is all very interesting, fascinating, and I guess, plausible. Kudos for this fine bit of reasoning. But I keep getting hung up on one thing. How, then, can Luigi from Cars show up in Finding Nemo? I’ve seen many images show up in a Google search that clearly show him: either passing by the dentist office when you can see the road through the window, or passing by on the road above when the tank gang roll their bags into the ocean.
I just thought of something that i saw on the internet in Finding Nemo when Gil is explaining how to escape it goes to a first person view of the bag if you pause it when the bag is about to go out the window you will catch a glimpse of a yellow Fiat that resembles and looks a lot like Luigi from the movie Cars he is also seen at the end of finding nemo when the fish escape from the tank and are floating in bags the top of Luigi’s head is caught. Just thought i might point that out i thought it was kinda important because that would mean that the movie cars would take place at the same time humans where alive. Hope i was helpful just made me think even more on how everything happened. Here are the links. linkshttp://findingmickey.squarespace.com/pixar-animated-features/finding-nemo/16218513

Perhaps this was long before Luigi had become sentient? Or he isn’t the only yellow Fiat that ever existed? There is no way that Cars took place when humans were around, and Cars 2 makes that quite clear.
I’m sure they’d make more than one of a certain type of car, just like how they make more than one type of toy and Jessie is seen in Monsters Inc. Manufacturers (such as BnL) know better than to just make one of something.
I also think that in some way, cars MADE other cars. Think about it. The town gave Lightning McQueen a makeover, so they can probably make more and more cars easily.
And also, I think there is a major flaw in the Pixar theory. there had to be humans because they were the ones that created Wall-e, and the president, as you can see in the middle of the movie, made a speech about evacuating and staying in space. So that means that there HAD to be humans during Cars, or else the humans left earth, came back, and then went back to space again. I might be wrong, so someone please help me clear this up.
I think for the most part it makes some sort of sense but one thing that I believe you are wrong about is that there are no humans in A Bug’s Life. I’m pretty sure there is a scene where they end up in picnic and Flik gets stepped on by someone and gets stuck underneath the shoe because there was gum on the bottom of it.
That’s Antz. It is pretty easy to get them confused though.
this hatred between humans & animals is the complete opposite of a video game ive played where in the game humans & animals learn to co-exist so why would the humans, animals & machines go against each other? I know this game isnt pixar or a movie but its a good example & it proves animals & humans can co-exist! My mind is offically blown i never thought to connect every pixar movie together! But its starting to make more sence now! I have seen almost every pixar movie on ur list btw except monsters u
wow. nobody cares.
that’s just mean i was just making a comment u didnt have to be so mean! i swear i hate the internet sometimes
In Rattatoulie, you can see Dug’s shadow in one one of the scenes, and it is quite clearly recognisable as Dug. How did he get in Italy? Or more like, how did Charles get him from Italy, if Dug already had another owner?
which scene
The other dogs on the blimp with dug also have some exaggerated features, ie the nose. Perhaps all golden retrivers look like that in the Pixar universe
Planes ties in when you think about the fact that there are some cars in Planes therefore it is the same place.
He talks about this in a another post he says it could be possible but it would be way after cars 2 but it is by disney
Hey there!
I was wondering about something – There’s a kid in Toy Story 3 at the day care center, and he is wearing a Lightning McQueen t-shirt. How could you explain that, I wonder? I really love this timeline idea, and I really believe it so I wonder what the deal is with the kid in the shirt! Here’s a copy of the link to an image I found:

I respect your opinion but one of the monsters could have brought it through the time doors
I guess it could be possible that there was a Lightning McQueen, back when humans were around to manufacture and design the cars. Now that the humans are gone, Lightning McQueen could essentially be “mimicking” an earlier Lightning McQueen? Just a thought!
Reblogged this on Reflections in Space and commented:
A timeline for the previous post
So basically, the reason for the whole entire animal-machine-human conundrum is all because of Boo!
and her love for Sully.
I love the Pixar theory if for no other reason than making the movies fun to watch again…in order. An apocalypic theory: the struggle between humans, animals and machines is facinating. How brilliant? Not only will children enjoy the story, but so will their parents and conspiracy theoriest alike.
I am SO watching all the movies again, but this time in chronological order, as demonstrated in this timeline, with the theory in mind
But… why did he have a postcard from Carl & Ellie in the first place? And why is it as special as to be hung on his wall?
What’s to say Carl and Andy aren’t related in some way? It could be on ahis wall as some sort of reminder
Wooden garage door offer timeless beauty and elegance, and can
give you a natural look inexpensively. That is why many people look
to add windows to their garage door. You may want to check the batteries to see
if they are low.
There is a flaw in the proposal that the monsters were using time travel. The entire premise of Monsters Inc. made it clear that times were difficult in the scaring industry because children have become desensitized to monsters, horror, etc. (due to current culture). If time travel were possible, why didn’t they go back to a time that children were scared more easily and were not descensitized? It was very time specific in that sense.
It was theorized that the monsters can only go back in time for a certain amount of years. Eventually they’ll even catch up to a time with no humans. That’ll be bad for them….
The company may have not invented time travel doors that went back that far.
i dont understand how the tree form Bugs Life connects to the tree in UP when Up is suppose ti be in the past before Bugs life. that theory didn’t connect too well when i read it through.
OK this is how I see the pixar shorts fit into the pixar theory.
First we have the adventures of Andre and Wally B pixars first produced short, in this I believe that Andre is a toy that was forgotten in the forest, and wally B is one of the more intelligent animals. this could be one of the first encounters the AI has with intelligent animals.
second is luxo Jr. this could be the first look we have on not only toys and machines having artificial intelligent but other items that spend allot of time with humans developing feeling and relationships (Jr getting sad when the ball pops and the father consoling him)
thirdly is reds dream which just like luxo Jr is showing other items that spend alot of time around humans gaining AI
forth is tin toy. this is nothing more than more support that toys are getting smarter and not liking humans so much.
fifth is knick knack my personal favorite of them all. in this we see that again other than toys and machines other items are getting smarter, they (the snowman) comes up with so many ways to get out of the snow globe he uses dynamite a welding torch and jackhammer!
sixth is Geri’s game. this to me is one of the most interesting ones. in it it is either A) a normal old man playing chess with himself or B) an old super who survived and can split himself into two personas.
seventh is for the birds. in this we see a group of intelligent birds ganging up together for a cause (yes the simple cause of knocking the tall birds off the line but still a cause.)
eighth is mikes new car. this one isn’t very important but it takes place in the monster time era.
ninth boundin. boundin is one of the more important ones, in this we see the sheep that is all happy and then the men come and take him away. afterwords we see what can be one of the first types of experiments or mutation of animals the jackalope. this is one of the first looks at the new species of animals known as monsters.
tenth is jack jack attack. this has no real importance other than we know that the government can erase peoples brains if they want.
eleventh is one man band. this is not such a big deal as all i got from it is humans are advancing with their inventions.
twelfth is mater and the ghost light. not very important as it only takes place in the cars time preiod.
thirteenth is lifted. this one is interesting because it shows that aliens have been to earth and could of been a factoring reason on how monsters came to be (the aliens do show a resemblance to a few of the monsters)
fourteenth is my friend the rat and it is showing that rats want to have a relationship with humans and be kind to humans but the humans not so much.
fifteenth is burn-e. burn-e does not show much importance to the pixar theory but it does show us that the AI has goals and feelings to.
sixteenth is presto. presto is important as it shows us that other than the witch other people can harness the magic of the will-o-wisp. (think the will-o-wisp are always teleporting away and the magic hats teleport one item that goes into it to the other.)
seventeenth partly cloudy. partly cloudy was by far the hardest to figure out but after watching it several time’s i figured something out, the animals created by the clouds seem more intelligent than the other ones. the animals created by the clouds were more affectionate and allot more obedient (not the wild one Gus created but the ones the other clouds created.) my theory is the witch enchanted some of the clouds to try to get them to make a sully monster (if that makes sense)
eighteen-nineteen. dugs special mission and George & AJ. these two are not very important they fit but it only gives background info about dug and George & AJ.
twenty is day & night. i really don’t see how this fits in. i guess it just symbolizes the relation ship of day and night and the theory goes on inside the two?
twenty one and three are toy shorts and only give background on the toy’s (there isnt anything that alters the theory)
twenty two and twenty five are some of maters tall tales and i like to think that they are just tales he makes up so it doesn’t have any meaning
twenty four is la luna. la luna was a more far fetched one but i have a theory i like. the familys boat is made out
wood and what does the monsters and boo need for time and or space travel wood. so my idea is that the family’s boat is made of the same kind of wood that the witch and boo uses and that’s what allows the family to travel to the moon.
finally is the blue umbrella. in the blue umbrella we see more inanimate objects other than toys and robots gaining artificial intelligence and having feelings and emotions
well this is how i think the short films fit into the pixar theory and i would like to say to Jon negroni i hope this helps your theory
A fun theory bout why Boo ends up in the 14th century in her search of Sully; IF she remembers (or got a clue in her later years) when the monsters lived in time, she would probably remember the years of 1300/1400, thinking its her own timeline when in fact the monsters has started a newer (probably when the first monster was born/created).
Hope you could follow my thought. I’m a swede having a hard time formulating it (:
How could Toy Story 2 happen after Toy Story 1? If Toy Story 2 is about Andys mom when she’s a child and 1 is about Andy?
Just because there is a flashback about his mom doesn’t mean the whole movie is set in his mom’s childhood.
rex was in monsters inc explain that please!
I like to believe that the Witch’s magic also gave the Incredibles & several other humans their super powers with little Jack-Jack being the most powerful of the bunch!
