My name is Jon Negroni and I’m a writer of books, pop culture theories, and entertainment reviews. These days, I mainly write original fiction, including novels and short stories for various publications. I also host several podcasts, which you can find in the website menu.
I started this blog in 2012 to write about all the things I care about. Naturally, I gravitated toward some of my biggest passions: film and entertainment. This eventually led me to publishing my first book, The Pixar Theory, in 2015. It was based on the viral blog post I wrote here in 2013. Sadly, the publisher went out of business a bunch of years ago, and I’m actively working on releasing a newer, bigger version of the book someday.
To date, I’ve written several novels and even some serial fiction. My first published one was Killerjoy, a fantasy adventure novel that combines everything I love about superheroes and comic books with traditional epic fantasy. It also went out of print a few years ago after COVID-19 rocked the world over, but the audiobook is still available.
I’m also the cofounder of InBetweenDrafts—a pop culture news platform—and currently serve as its Podcast Editor. This is why you’ll notice many of my blog posts started showing up over there instead of this website a while back. After years of being a Rotten Tomatoes-approved film critic and member of the Critics Choice Association, I’ve started transitioning more fully to being a fiction writer. So this website will mainly serve as a place for me to publish original stories and announcements about my books and such.

Hi! I enjoyed your blog alot! Today was my first time but will visit here often! 🙂
haha !! that was some crazy theory there
but if u are a graphic designer/ developer n involved with such a huge company like pixar .. its only safe to assume that they would re-use many of the items once used to save time . that said your time frame link was crazy ..
Jon! Loooooooooove the Pixar theory, BRILLIANT! I host a TV show in NorCal called, “Goodday Sacramento” would LOVE to talk to you next weekend about the theory and why in back to back viewings of “Brave” (my daughter has the flu and is control of the remote) I have completely rethought everything about the Pixar movies, that and, I so need to pry the remote out of her clammy hands. My email is tvguycody@gmail.com
Hi Jon – my name is mark – nice to meet you – I just read your Pixar theory – and I really like it- have u heard any thing from Pixar about it ?
I only have one question for you
In what order should I watch the movies
Have a great day
Thanks
Mark
I similarly just read your theory, and would like a listing of the movies in chronological (in the pixar universe). Do you have this or are you planning on putting one together soon?
Interesting theory. I might suggest that its a perfect example of a “Stand Alone Complex” as philosophized in the Ghost in the Shell Universe.
Hello Jon my cousins showed me the Pixar Theory and the one cousin basically called you stupid for writing the article i personally liked it. the other cousin asked what is your credibility on the subject so i figured i would ask you.
Thanks for your time and im sorry for my one cousin
hello twitter doesnt let me make a big tweet so ill say it here
in the same picture that shows the pizza planet truck there is also a modern sculpture le penseur that proof boo realy traveled trought time but the trailer connot be the same of bugs life and monster inc because the Windows are diferent the Windows wouldnt simply change trought the time
YOU MISSED ANOTHER CONNECTION!!!!!
You completely forgot the association of Russell from “Up” and John from “Wall-E”. Notice that Russel was already taking on the BNL form modifications being applied to the human race. Do you think it was a random chance, that this extensively genetically modified child wound up in the South American research area?
Hi Jon !
I’ve just read your “Pixar Theory”, I’ll probably need a couple of weeks to realize what just happened to me… My legs are shaking, my hearts beats at around 15223 bpm. Anyways, I’m a student in 3D Animation, I’m French as well as American, I can handle both languages pretty well, (I’ve passed the Cambridge Profieciency last year), and I thought that maybe, in order to help me be really familiar with your theory I could translate it to French for you 🙂
(Do keep in mind that the French have some of the best 3D Animation schools in the world, therefore plenty of students/audience to grab there 😉
You’ve got my e-mail, if you’re interested e-mail me in order to discuss the terms or whatever !
Thanks again… For blowing my mind the way you did !
First, you hooked me with “my mom went home to Puerto Rico” and solidified my following by reading the Pixar Theory! NICE!!
Hello,
I just wanted to respond with a few things regarding your Pixar theory. First, I agree that Bug’s life is futuristic door all the reasons you listed and also because they stand and walk like humans, which animals did not do in other movies. Secondly, regarding the Dinosaur movie I think that it would be set post-apocalypse because after the earth was repopulated, the dinosaurs came back via some new Jurassic Park-like technology, or Boo accidentally brought since to that time looking for Sully. Then, the dinosaurs overtook the humans after Bug’s Life, and helped cause the creation of monsters. Finally, Boo’s magical interests may have caused the Incredibles to gain their super powers. Or perhaps The Incredibles is set post-apocalypse, after the time reset and they are the result of monsters and research on some humans in the far far far future.
Nice job with the theory and nice work with the blog. Cheers! – BD
Pixar Theory…
I’m hoping that this also means that Boo/the witch could also be Emily, Jessie’s old owner from Toy Story…? Boo definitely owns a Jessie doll, as seen at the end of Monsters Inc. Oh, the possibilities!
Hi, Jon
I’d like to talk to you about the possibility of publishing your Pixar Theory on a brazillian monthly magazine. Please, if you have the time, send us an e-mail so we know if it is ok by you.
Thanks for your attention.
Hey there Jon! I nominated you for a One Lovely Blog award! My blog post is here…
http://objectprogrammingextendsart.wordpress.com/2013/08/18/one-lovely-blog-award/
To continue the Pixar theory of how boo is trying to find Sully. When I saw Monsters University when Mike and Sully got trapped in the door in the lab and into a camp, I could of sworn I heard Boo’s voice. Maybe you could possibly look into that?
