So we did talk about The Light Between Oceans and Morgan and even Southside with You this week on the Now Conspiring podcast, but not as featured reviews.  No, we spent a good amount of time looking back on the year as a part of a whole before we move into the fall season. And we want all of you to judge which one of us “wins” the debate.

QUESTION OF THE WEEK: Who do you think had the best pick for Best and Worst movies? It’s between CJ, Will, Kayla, and Jon.

Let us know your thoughts (and your favorite podcast moments) in the comments, which we may read on next week’s show! 1. Since you’re asking Jon I’m a Slytherin too! And to answer the question of the week, I think Will’s argument for Swiss Army Man was the best, especially because he said Daniel Radcliffe, as a corpse, felt more alive than some other actually alive movie characters from this year. Solid argument overall. Jon, I knew you were going to say Sing Street (even before I saw the picture for the podcast episode). I’m not sure why, but it might be because you talk about it all the time. And I like Kayla’s argument the most about Sausage Party being the worst movie. It could have been great and it wasn’t, which makes it worse because you had hope and it ended being disappointing.

  2. In my opinion I think that Jon was the Dan Murrell of this movie fight because he made the strongest argument (and Sing Street was my favorite movie of this year.) But I agree that Norm of the North seemed was the worst movie with the least amount of effort put into it. I only saw a trailer, but you can tell. So I guess it’s a tie.

    PS. I’m a Gryffindor

  3. Just catching up here. In regards to episode 101, Jenny, I’ll fight you for the title. 😛 IT’S ON.

  4. (Andy Signore’s voice) THIS IS TOUGH.

The worst movie was easy for me. Will definitely got to the heart of how Norm of the North is a blatant ripoff, which is definitely a step worse than having a bad effect on people.

But I think Jon made the best arguments with Sing Street. He really got to why that movie is better than many others this year. But Kayla is a super close second with Kubo.

  5. I think will made the best argument for the best AND worst movie. He brought up some really good points on both films so good job Will. I will say though, that the worst movie of the year so far in my opinion was Nine Lives (please don’t ask me why I watched it). I was just so dumbfounded on how bad a movie could be. Kevin Spacey should really just get a new agent because they really messed up.

    • Thank you kindly. 🙂

I missed Nine Lives, but I heard it was rather… un-fur-giveable.

      I apologize.

  6. Feedback was especially lit this week. Bring on the Home Depot Cinematic Universe, starting with Agents of Home Improvement.

  7. Worst movie of the year so far? The Disappointments Room.

  8. Well I haven’t actually seen any of you’re movie picks, but I do think Jon made the better argument for the best, I think Kayla sounds right about Sausage Party. The podcast won’t be the same without her 🙁
Hopefully I can see some of these soon.
Also it sounds like Jon got over his existential crisis, so that’s good. Do you guys think that any of the so far unreleased movies will be better/worse than these?

  9. So why was my text emoji replaced with this :(? And will Sam and Maria be back next week? (you can leave out Adonis)

  10. So that time it didn’t change. Wierd…
