This week on Now Conspiring, we review Don’t Breathe and discuss what it’s like to be on a podcast that is officially past its 100-episode prime. Plus, Jon and Adonis have a racially sensitive discussion about Telemundo for some reason, which somehow relates to the Mary Jane Watson casting rumor/controversy everyone finds interesting (except for Sam).

QUESTION OF THE WEEK: What movie (or movies) should Jon add to his DVD bookshelf?

Let us know your thoughts (and your favorite podcast moments) in the comments, which we may read on next week’s show! 1. Jon, you just gotta buy Toolbox Man 3 and complete your collection of the Home Depot Cinematic Universe

  2. The best thing about Don’t Breathe was the political commentary. PSYCHE. I think Jon should add Mary Poppins to his DVD (or blu ray?) bookshelf. In my opinion, MP is the best Disney movie ever.

  3. First order of business: Jon, you should definitely put Gaslight on your list. It’s from 1944 and is honestly not the best movie I’ve ever seen. Probably not even in the top twenty. But it’s still a good movie that is very intriguing. It’s a movie that makes you think, and I’m not talking in the way DC fanboys claim BvS made them think, this is one of very few movies to leave me thinking about it days after the fact. From a psychological standpoint, it’s a hallmark. There’s a reason most psych majors have seen the movie at least once in their education.

Second: My cousin Kayla still hasn’t commented and I’m really butt hurt about it.

Third: Jon. Don’t ever do that creepy voice again. Ever.

Lastly: Are we just gonna gloss over the fact that Jenny and I apparently have a son? Jenny, really? You’re gonna tell the rest of the podcast before you tell me? I’m insulted.

  4. Listening to Jon butcher those tv shows’ names was priceless. I agree with an earlier comment about adding Mary Poppins. A Disney classic. And sorry Adonis, but that voice you used to read my comment was a little rough to hear.

  5. Funny thing you mention youtube red because I actually have it, but only because it comes with my music subscription. I’ve checked out the few shows and movies to see how bad they are, and most of them are terrible, but harmless. It’s not Independence Day Resurgence terrible. I will say I did enjoy two of the new shows called”Single By 30″, and Fight of the Living Dead. But if it wasn’t for my music subscription I don’t think I’d pay for it monthly. Not yet at least. To answer the question of the week I have a couple movies. Shattered Glass, Macbeth (2015), Zodiac, and Titus(1999).

  6. I would say The Color Purple, American Beauty, and Sixteen Candles.

  7. Sam I’m concerned about your health. In the next 3 and a half years there will be about 24 confirmed comic book movies. Please visit my office for our weekly meetings.

    • They don’t call you “eventual” for nothing

    • Who the HELL do you think you are?!

  8. I know this comment is a bit late when Sam mentioned his quote was from one of the very well known Spielberg movies Jon mentioned Tinker Taylor Soldier Spy, but it was directed by Tomas Alfredson.

  9. Hello Lovelies!!!!! (and Jon) Thank you all for wishing me better you guys really are the best. I am honestly appalled at the fact no one has suggested the Dead Poets Society it is honestly one of the best movies I have ever seen and is so worth the rewatch(I will fight you on this). Kayla I think I can speak for everyone when I say we all missed you last week. And Jon you are lovely too but this is revenge for everyone because of terrible voice that you tried to use for my comment last week. Also hi Adonis(I’ve got to keep my streak of mentioning Adonis going guys)
