Baby Driver and Spider-Man: Homecoming Reviews – Now Conspiring

baby driver and spiderman

This week, Now Conspiring saw a double feature and we tell you everything we thought of Edgar Wright’s Baby Driver and Marvel’s Spider-Man: Homecoming.

Sam, Maria and Jenny talk about their thoughts on Baby Driver and its incredible style and rich soundtrack. We gushed too much about this movie, but we’d still love to hear your thoughts on it in the comment section.

Later on, Adonis Gonzalez joins us to discuss his favorite superhero. Warning- more gushing happens and a whole lot of hazing.

Things become a little confusing and upsetting when we discuss the upcoming sequel to Jumanji. With the latest trailer released, we rant about the changes and wonder how many more sequels will ruin our childhoods.

Question of the Week: This week we ask for your questions for our upcoming Q&A episode and reunion of Now Conspiring members. You can leave your questions in the comment section or on our Facebook page linked below.

  1. What an honor to be read in an Owen Wilson voice by Sam! Your impression of him cracks me up every time! I wasn’t that interested in Bay Driver before your review, but now I think I will give it a shot. I absolutely cannot wait to watch Spider-Man: Homecoming!

Here are my questions for your Q&A episode:
Jon: Will there ever be a Pixar Detective book that has all three parts in it? Will there be any more upcoming books other than Killer Joy?
Kayla: Are you going to do more Modern Princess comics? (p.s. I think you should either be more on the Cinemaholics podcast more or come back to Now Conspiring. You are awesome.)
Jon and Kayla: Will you guys continue The Pixar Detectives Facebook Stream thing soon? Oh, and WHEN’S THE WEDDING?

    • Oops. One more question for Jon. Are your books going to stay exclusively on the Kindles? I have a Nook, and I would prefer to not have to buy a paperback version. Well, whatever the case, I’m sure paying more money for the paperback will be worth it. Killer Joy comes out tomorrow and I can’t wait!

    • Honestly, I think Baby Driver is like the lovechild of a music video and an action flick—pure magic! Oh, and if you’re looking for some great tools to enhance your cinematic experience, check this out: Dirs.cc.

    • Great reviews on Baby Driver and Spider-Man: Homecoming! I loved hearing about the team’s thoughts on Baby Driver’s style and soundtrack. It sounds like a fun double feature, and I’m excited to check out these movies now.love-mbti

  2. Sadly I’m not an Eskimo! I wish I could be though but alas… it wasn’t ment to be…
I’m a European, from the Balkans, and Maria is currently a honorary European! Greetings to Amsterdam Maria! I knew the plot of the Beguiled because I have seen the original film and don’t have any interest in the remake.
Guys don’t be so negative about the Jumanji remake!
I’m a fan of the original and don’t think that the new Jumanji looks terrible.
It actually looks like a fun movie. We will have to wait and see.
It definitely have some guilty pleasure material!
BTW did anyone thought that the scene where the Hippo eats Jack Black look like Sam Jackson’s untimely (horrible looking CGI) end in Deep Blue Sea?

    • My question for your Q&A episode. If you would have the power to go back in time but only to experience some classic films when they first appeared in cinemas what movies would you see? I would have to go with the Exorcist partly because I’m a horror fan but also because I want to see people fainting and running away from the theatre!

  3. I’ll go ahead and ask all off you a question.
For Jon, how did it feel being a part of, yet alone winning, movie fights? Must feel awesome!
Kayla, have you seen The Red Turtle? If so, what are thoughts on it?
For Maria, I’m sorry if you have mentioned it but what is your favorite movie? I’m curious about that.
For Mike, how’ve you been dude? It’s been a while. I was afraid Heather kidnapped you.
For Andre Gordon, where’s Kick Ass 3 Ultimate Edition?
For Sam, any movie recommendations? Any movie is fine. Try and surprise me.
Bridget, what kind of music do you listen to? I have no idea what you would listen to.
Jenny, what’s your favorite Disney movie?
For everyone, what’s your favorite podcast you’ve recorded to date?

  4. “Child actor”. Okay, but at least Tom Holland is of legal drinking age and the last time I checked, Adonisn’t

(I left before I could haze you, so this will have to suffice)

  5. This Adonis dude claims to have read all the Spider-Man yet when he talks, it sounds like that’s exactly the case. He really knew his Spider-Stuff. It’s pretty refreshing to have someone on here that I don’t have to correct. I pronounce Adnois as the Don of Comic Book Movies on the Now Conspiring Podcast and any future names. And yes, Spider-Man rocked, easily best comic book movie of the year.

And yeah, Jumanji looks pretty dumb, it looks like a bad combination of Jumanji, the Breakfast Club, and Captain N The Game Master. But come on, ruining childhoods (as written in the description). You really want to talk about having your childhood ruined? I can talk heavily about that, this is child’s play.
