I was ready to hate on Sam for dissing Winter Soldier, but those were some good points.
It’s reassuring to hear that I’m capable of defending myself…I’m really glad that so many people love Winter Soldier, it’s just not quite what I wanted.
I loved this episode. Best one since Wes Anderson. This guest was ok but I wanna give a specific shoutout to Jason for talking about his experiences rewatching the movies, like with Avengers. It’s so different to hear a measured take on disliking Avengers but then coming to appreciate it. Made his other criticisms a bit more credible in general.
also can’t believe there were not one, but TWO interesting discussions about the Iron Man sequels in one podcast. Excelsior, gentlemen.

I love Anthony, but his Hulk criticisms were way off honestly. They explain Hulk plenty decently, you don’t need a detailed exposition and the point is that the Hulk’s powers and presence are kind of mysterious. If they weren’t, he’d be a huge plot-breaker.
That’s an interesting point you make about how Hulk’s powers are mysterious…I’m sure that Hulk is a really difficult character to build a story around, especially in a universe full of other heroes. It seems like they have something interesting in mind going forward, so maybe the future will hold the answers we’re looking for.
Huh. I thought Ant-Man was Phase 3 as well. Why…isn’t it?
We’re not quite sure, to be honest. My best guess is that it’s considered part of Phase 2 so that Phase 2 ultimately equals out to 6 films, just like Phase 1. We’ll address the mistake on this week’s episode, but it does seem a bit anticlimactic to end a phase with a standalone story, much less Ant-Man.
I’m totally onboard with the love for Iron Man 3. It’s so much better than a lot of people gripe about.
It seems like a lot of people are starting to revisit it and come around on it, which is obviously very exciting for me. The plot is a little wonky, but as a continuation of the Iron Man story I believe it’s really solid.
This was actually a really thorough analysis of the movies without much fanboying. I’m seriously pumped to hear your takes on Phase 3, which I would consider the strongest of the MCU movies by far (collectively at least).
