For our 100th episode of the Now Conspiring podcast, we decided to…review Kubo and the Two Strings!

OK, that’s not all we did. To celebrate this arbitrary milestone, we started a new tradition: a variation of the Now Conspiring Game Show — introducing the Now Conspiring Movie Quote Trivia Challenge!

Also, we make lame jokes, talk about how much we like each other (and movies, I guess), read your comments from last week’s show, play the Now Conspiring theme song on ukulele for some reason, and talk about what’s coming soon to theaters this coming week.

QUESTION OF THE WEEK: At what point did you start listening to Now Conspiring, and WHY?

Let us know your thoughts (and your favorite podcast moments) in the comments, which we may read on next week’s show! Also, don’t forget to follow us on Facebook so you can send us direct messages and get podcast updates crazy fast. And be sure to subscribe on iTunes and/or Stitcher, where you can also rate/review the podcast if you like it!

  1. Congrats on 100 episodes everyone! I don’t remember when I started watching because it’s been so long but this is my first time commenting, and the only reason I’m doing it is because I’m also from Ohio and we celebrated the 100th day of school up until like middle school so you’re not alone there Kayla 🙂

  2. Adonis’s chief romantic interest, here. I started listening to Now Conspiring back when the lot of you reviewed The Force Awakens (Star Wars for short). I liked the podcast so much, I forgot to unsubscribe and have just kept listening out of pure obligation. Cheers.

  3. I’m finally back commenting since June. First of all I live in California and celebrated 100 days of school in kindergarten and first grade. Secondly I have been listening since the Cinderella episode. I commented multiple times under different usernames, trying to find the right one, until I became Jigsaw puzzle.

  4. 100 episodes. 100 million moments. 1 or 2 decent comments.

Guys, I loved Kubo and the Two Strings. I have a feeling this will be one of the year’s biggest flops, though, and for terrible disgusting reasons. Meanwhile, fanboys think Suicide Squad is Christ incarnate (literally) because it sold tickets.

  5. Jon, your Now Conspiring theme ukulele song is definitely solid, but i took the liberty of writing the rest for you to the tune of “Hallelujah” by (name your choice).

    AHEM

There once was a Now Conspirer

    with lots of film admirers

His theories were astounding, what’s it to ya?

But alone, he could not podcast right

He needed others to join the fight

But why in Hollywood would that mean Adonis…

    Now Conspiring

    Every Monday

    Now Conspiring

    Used to be Sunday

    Now Conspiring

You’ll like the audio one day

You could listen to literally anything else.

    Hashtag Kickass 3.

  6. Howdy NC crew! So I, like many others, came for the Pixar theory and stayed because “hey, this guy’s movie reviews aren’t half bad!” So I’ve been listening since that time that Jon put out this little YouTube podcast- best films of Summer 2014 maybe? Anyway, it was the first episode, and then I may have skipped a couple till you went on iTunes. Then you became that show I’d listen to if there was nothing better I’d downloaded. Jk 😉 it’s been a blast, you guys are great.

  7. Hello friends, this is going to be a super long comment, but that’s because I have clawed myself out of the pit of hell that is required reading to celebrate this NC milestone. As you guys probably know – I feel like I’ve mentioned it before – I was stanning the podcast since its origin (does that make me one of the OG conspirers :D). You guys have carried me through the majority of high school, so kudos – I can’t imagine those years being what they were without your soothing, melodic, and often bickering voices in my ears.

About the trivia game – I almost threw my phone out of the window when you guys couldn’t get the HP Goblet of Fire quote. How can anyone forget the wise words of Professor McGonagall? Especially when they’re delivered by the phenomenal Maggie Smith? Sigh.

Personally, I am so down for Kayla’s superhero name to be The Animation Sensation. She’d be like Harold with his purple crayon bringing benders and jedis and princesses alike into this world. (Kayla if you could draw yourself doing that I swear I’ll buy it as a poster or whatever form you want to distribute it in. Once I get a job)

Haven’t seen Suicide Squad, and don’t plan to, but I will say this – Heathens is a damn good song. TOP never ceases to impress.

Finally, consider: a NC a cappella group.

(You don’t have to read the next part)
I’m heading to New York towards the end of September as part of a university trip, and we might have some down time to go exploring or whatever, so…Bridget. Whaddya say. Shall we take this podcast commenter friendship thing into the – quote on quote – real world? Details are still pending for the trip, but I would love to meet you in person. Or through a confession booth screen. Whichever is preferable for you.

    • All I’ve gotta say, Jenny, is which one of us is doing the confessing here?

      • Depends. Who has more sins?

        • Well, Miss Pure and Good, I have a feeling that might be me. Plus, you’re from Canada

          • Oho, don’t let my small and non-threatening vessel fool you. Also, ‘plus, you’re from Canada’? I’d be offended at the stereotyping if I didn’t apologize for someone else walking into me just today.

  8. I don’t think all of you guys realize how amazing you are. I listened to the podcast Monday morning like I always do but I wasn’t able to comment until later that evening because I had a very busy day set after I listened to the podcast. While I was doing one of those thing I fell down a flight of stairs. I was rushed to the emergency room believing that I had broken my ankle. When I got there they were very quick about getting me in and getting an x-ray but of course it is still the emergency room so after the x-ray they took forever getting back to us so during that time I was still in a good amount of pain and I needed to take my mind off of things so I went back and started listening to my favorite parts of this weeks episode. It definitely got my mind off of my ankle and I was laughing so hard I was almost crying(even with it being the second time listening to it) and I couldn’t stop smiling while Jon was singing. Soon after the doctor came and told me that my ankle wasn’t broken but severely sprained. You guys are amazing and were able to make me feel better while I was in so much pain so thank you.

As for the actual podcast Maria I am so sorry if I made it sound like you’re a terrible person. I’ve never thought for a second that you are. You. Are. Amazing. Also as for being Adonis’s favorite if you go back and listen to your guy’s feedback to my comment in the Pete’s dragon episode he literally said that I was his favorite person so I put it in my name as a joke(even though we all know it true lol). Kayla I honestly didn’t think you would be so excited about me telling you that you’re my favorite critic but I am so glad that me telling you made you that happy. And finally Jon when I asked you to sing I didn’t know if you would actually do it but I’m so glad you did. Every time I listen to it it makes me so happy and I can’t stop smiling so again thank you! Oh and I almost forgot I started listening to you guy during the SCBros finding dory episode and have been listening and commenting ever since and I will keep doing so. Have a good week everyone.

  9. The first time I listened to your podcast was when the super carlin brothers joined you. That was a fun episode.
You should try and do it with Mr Sunday…

  10. I had been meaning to start listening for a while, but didn’t get around to it until the episode with the Super Carlin Brothers (I actually found their channel through your website, not the other way around) I was immediately hooked, and am frantically trying to catch up with all the past episodes!

  11. I started listening when Sam started guest starring…
