It’s time for another episode of Now Conspiring, the weekly podcast on all things…anyway.

This week, we review Pete’s Dragon and Sausage Party, which are two movies that couldn’t be any more different. We also discuss Harry Potter and the Cursed Child, Adonis’s ill-fated Harry Potter fan theory getting roasted on Snarcasm, and the state of modern film criticism. Don’t worry, the segue works.

QUESTION OF THE WEEK: Who are your favorite film critics and why?

Let us know your thoughts (and your favorite podcast moments) in the comments, which we may read on next week’s show! Also, don’t forget to follow us on Facebook so you can send us direct messages and get podcast updates crazy fast. 1. THIS COMMENT HAS BEEN FLAGGED FOR SPOILERS

I hated Cursed Child, especially how they made XXX family and this whole XXX nonsense + the existence of XXX which is ONE HUGE PLOT HOLE

  2. So I have come to realize that somehow every time I comment Adonis is always involved in some way shape or form and apparently this week is no different. Jon you certainly have started a war or some sort of fight at a park? And I’m here to defend Adonis’s honor(mainly because he told me to last week but still) so I am definitely team Adonis all the way. Now Adonis I will stand up to Jon for you but you’re on your own when it comes to the wrath of Maria(#SaveAdonis2k16). You would think by now you and Jon would know not to get on her bad side by now lol. Also it seems to me that this week we definitely found out why Kayla’s last name is Savage because girl when it came to sausage party you had no mercy.

As for the question the week I don’t really pay attention to critics I don’t even read Jon’s stuff so I guess my answer is you guys on the podcast and funny enough I would mostly say Kayla the only one of you that doesn’t do movie reviews outside of the podcast(as far as I know?) I just feel like we have a lot of the same opinions but most importantly sharks!!!
ALSO!!! Jon being as this is the 100th episode I think you should serenade us the same way you do for Adonis.

    • P.S. Kayla had no mercy when it came to the animation

  3. Um…who’s “Second Date Sandra?”

  4. Glad to see people care about me just based on my opinions on movie questions. In all seriousness I’ve been enjoying the podcast but haven’t commented. I’d say why but I don’t know why really. So hey everyone. To answer the question of the week I don’t really trust film critics. Granted I do read/watch a couple reviews but I don’t depend on them to see if I’ll watch the movie.

  5. My favorite critic is actually Negroni, and I sincerely mean that. I’ve been following Jon since early last year and have found him pretty consistent and entertaining to read. Right up there with Stuckmann, Doug Walker, and my guilty pleasure, Black Nerd.

  6. My favorite thing about sausage party was watching the various families in the audience gradually exit the theater in horror. Kudos to the family of four in front of me though for making it all the way to the credits.

Also, Adonis I’m going to metaphorically throw a milkshake in your face.

    • And just who do you think YOU are?!

  7. Some critics that I trust are Chris Stuckman, Alicia Malone, and Jon Negroni. Don’t always agree with these guys, but I more or less trust them.

  8. Hey there,
This is Will, writing from the dead. I will always and forever be influenced by my idol, Roger Ebert. He’s unquestionably the reason why I’m a film critic today. He proved that critics could be both professional and exceptionally human; he always remembered that film is an art form, while never forgetting the importance of entertainment and emotions in the craft. I always look upon his reviews to better myself and my work, and I miss him every day. One of my biggest regrets, both personally and professionally, is never reaching out to him. Especially in his later years. He will always be my favorite film critic.

  9. I love half in the bag (including Plinkett), Kermode, and the r/movies forum. They’re not critics I guess, but I find their opinions pretty useful.

  10. Is anyone else worried that that a war is going to start over who get to be Adonis’s girlfriend? Adonis I think you might want to go into hiding.
