1. Personally, I love the grimmer tone of the trailer – which they’ve managed to pull off without a desaturated colour scheme (take notes, Snyder).

   Jon, I acknowledge your criticisms of Rey’s character, but let me offer you this: Rey grew up a scavenger on a desert planet. The only way she could survive is if she constantly adapted. We see that she doesn’t succeed at everything the first time she does it – it takes her a couple tries to figure out how to fly the Falcon, and same with the Jedi mind control scene. Does she get it really quickly? Yes, but one could argue that she has to be able to master new skills in a short span of time or else she’d starve to death.

   Also, how can she use a lightsaber so well, so fast? She doesn’t. When she first starts to duel with wannabe Darth Vader, Kylo “being a fan boy of your grandpa isn’t weird” Ren, she’s using the lightsaber like a staff. We know that she can wield a staff pretty well, and at the start of the duel she’s applying the same techniques as she wields the lightsaber. That’s why she’s not doing so well at the start of the battle – it’s clear that Ren has the upper hand. Rey realizes this, and so she does what she does best – she adapts. That’s how she managed to win.

   In the end, Star Wars is about a man who is essentially virgin-birthed Force Jesus, who builds a droid from scratch at a super young age, wins a pod race even though he’s never done it before, and sires an entire bloodline of people who have extremely faulty judgement.

   Before you start analyzing how Rey isn’t exactly realistic, just remember: this is Star Wars, guys. You knew what you were getting into.

2. Hey Conspirators! So…Rogue One. It visually looks just as much “Star Wars” (if not more so) than The Force Awakens- it really looks like it’s going to capture the feel of A New Hope. I was never much of a Star Wars fan (probably due to growing up in the prequel era) but recently I’ve been catching up on everything (and yes, watching Star Wars Rebels with my younger siblings. Man, that show improves by leaps and bounds). Anyway, this looks amazing. I love the whole look and feel of what they’re creating, and it’s going to be really neat to see the actual “Wars” part of Star Wars from the POV of “little people” (something really only seen in The Clone Wars TV show). And if this film ends with the opening frame of the original star wars, I truly will have no complaints.

3. You are correct, I am English, Kayla’s English accent is very good, although mine is not that posh. I’m not sure how I feel about Rogue One yet, they really didn’t give away much which I like. However I’m not a huge fan of franchises jumping about in time lines, but I guess if it’s a good stand alone film and you don’t have to see all the films to understand what’s happening that’s ok.

4. Haven’t commented since ‘What’s your favourite Tarantino film?’ was question of the week, so here goes…

   I freakin’ loved the Rogue One teaser trailer. I’m glad that the film looks much rougher than The Force Awakens. It feels almost like a period piece, as if it happens in the late 1970s in a galaxy far, far away.

   A few things I liked the most about the trailer:
   1. The obvious lack of any mentions about the force, Jedi, Dark Side or showing a light saber.
   2. The white caped general! Who is he? What does he want? Why does he look so evil by just standing there, doing nothing?! I need to know more about this guy.
   3. Jyn and her squad. Everyone feels very un-Star Wars-y – but I think that’s a good thing. What I don’t want to see in this are rehashed characters.

   My main complaint about the teaser trailer, and please don’t hate me for saying this, is the “Katniss Everdeen In Space” angle. Compare the posters for Mockingjay Part 1 & 2 and the last shot of Jyn in the trailer and you’ll see that Katniss and Jyn look strikingly similar. Hunger Games just finished its run in cinemas late last year and made its way to BluRay & DVD last month, therefore still sitting fresh in people’s heads, so I’d give them a little break for thinking that the two heroines look alike. And with YA films like Divergent, Insurgent, Maze Running, Scorch Hopping whatevers coming out every season, Rogue One, without the the iconic Death Star, AT-AT’s, Stormtroopers and blaster guns, could pass for another dystopian YA novel adaption.

   But I know Rogue One will be different from the rest of the YA films. The spirit of Star Wars is clearly present, so I’m not too worried. Nor am I worried about the feminist fearing fans getting riled up about the whole “two chicks in a row!” argument. Ugh. They need to get over themselves. A Han Solo movie is on its way anyway, right? So stop getting your knickers in a twist, lads!

   Oh! And the corny line “Yessir!” made me cringe. Hated that. Rest was fine.

   And Jon, regarding your clone theory. Really? I hate it. But I sort of love it. Ugh, I don’t know. I most certainly hope that Rogue One’s characters aren’t related to any of the major players in the main saga. Just let them be their own individuals.

5. I fell in love with rogue one as soon as I saw that trailer. It’s so beautiful and star wars-y. I don’t want too much to be revealed, but I’m really interested in some of the side characters.
   Also some things I noticed:
   1. The samurai dude looked like he was closing his eyes during that entire fight scene.
   2. The droid with Jyn does look like a reprogrammed super battle droid that is her friend(?) It was in the background right before the scene where she shot up those storm troopers.
   3. Even though I have no idea who the black cloaked figure is, I think I heard Darth Vader breathing when I listened really closely during that scene. Don’t know what that means for this movie.

6. I honestly really liked the trailer for Rogue One. The characters looked cool, and it gave me chills seeing the Rebel outfits in a modern movie. I’m looking forward to it. I showed it to my parents, though. Father says it doesn’t look like Star Wars. Mother was unpleased with the lack of classic characters. I don’t really understand what they meant too much, which is credited to my growing up with the prequels rather than the originals. Again, I’m looking forward to it. And I really hope that we get Grand Moff Tarkin. There is the possibility that he is the guy in the white outfit (it kinda looks like him). I’ve been going through the Tarkin audiobook (now official canon), and he is my favorite Star Wars character right now.

   PS: Hearing the abrupt intro to “Caravan” made me think my iPod had broken, since I have the album on it, thinking it had switched tracks for some odd reason.

   • Also, I agree with Jon. I probably would have written a better script for BvS.

     • And Adonis’ Kick-Ass 3/ Batman v Superman crossover sounds genius. I’d buy the Screening Room if it was an exclusive.

7. Hi there, Conspiracy Clouds. Believe me, I’ve had many people ask me to talk about The Jungle Book as King Louie, but I wouldn’t pass up another opportunity. I have a talking point for you guys, if you’re interested. I was wondering what your favorite and least favorite best picture winners are? Also, how many out of the 88 winners have you seen? I’ve only seen 26 of them myself. Farewell, and swimming isn’t a sport. It’s a way to keep from drowning.

8. Hey fellas I’m back. Sorry about the departure. I lost Internet and so I’m commenting from my cousin’s house. Anyways I feel there are too many Star Wars movies. Not only can you have too much of a good thing I also feel people are obsessed with Star Wars too much. It’s not a Pixar/Animated/HarryPotter movie so please get over it. There gonna run out of ideas eventually just like Eevee evolutions in Pokemon. Anyways see ya.
