1. Marvel will definitely last forever. Star Wars will most likely see the next decade or two, but not much more then that.

2. I’m back for my bi-yearly comments! I personally don’t think that Marvel will last forever. One of two things will happen. They’ll either run out of source material and just give up, or be run into the ground by angry fans. Star Wars, on the other side, I do think will last forever. Like Sherlock, we’ll get three episodes every hundred years, but instead of fan fiction, it’s television shows and books.

3. I don’t think anything is forever. Except Disney. And Pixar. And DreamWorks.

5. I definitely think it’s possible that Star Wars and Marvel stick around forever. Neither movies nor the two universes have been around long enough to truly gauge how long they could potentially last. However, like Kayla said, our tech will change. We live in a world of constant change and fluctuation in every aspect of our lives from the clothes we wear to our methods of payment. So in fifty years, we may not be watching movies anymore. We may be living them. And we’ll probably call them something else. And at that point in time, we are going to want to relive certain aspects of what we’ve experienced through this new lens of view. In comparison, fairy tales started as oral stories, spread from generation to generation with shifting views and tones. Then we got the chance to write them down and give them permanence in the form of books and short stories each one drastically different from its predecessor. After that came movies, and suddenly we could actually see the stories take shape in the way one person or another pictured it as they first experienced it. With our advancements in tech, we’ll revamp these old stories again as we will Marvel and Star Wars. Both are not likely to die out soon not only because of the love we fans have for them, but because as we advance through time, we are going to be able to change the way we experience and view these two universes. The stories won’t always be the same and they’ll be written and rewritten in so many different ways and from different viewpoints that I don’t think they’ll ever die out. There will always be someone somewhere who decides to bring it back. Who knows? Maybe one day there will be some new fangled director of sorts living on an exoplanet thousands of lightyears away who decides to revamp The Avengers because he has a new and unique way to tell the story. To sum up (and to let you catch your breath after reading this far too long comment), it won’t die out. The current MCU and Lucasfilm we have now might, but the stories will not.

6. Hello, all! This is my first time commenting on the podcast, despite listening to it for one/two years (what is time even). I started listening way back when it was just Jon and Maria… that’s two years, right?

   I’m not particularly into having Star Wars and Marvel go on forever, but at this point they basically own my soul, so I’d probably go watch Star Wars XVII if it came out while I was still alive.

   A question for Kayla and Adonis – have you considered teaming up and making Kick-Ass 3: The Resident? Because I’d watch the hell out of that movie.

   Also, SAM. PLEASE CAN WE BE BEST FRIENDS I DON’T CARE IF ADONIS HAS ALREADY CALLED DIBS. I WILL FIGHT HIM (with a strongly worded letter).

   • I suppose I’ll have to meet you on the battlefield then. The location will be the park at 3pm, I have class at 1-2:30 so I may be a little late. The trophy will be Sam, the only strong letters we can use are A, Q, P, and J. Perhaps Z, if I’m feeling daring.

     • I have a racist’s anonymous meeting on that day, but I might be able to get out of it. It depends whose turn it is to present their ideas for the sketch show we’re starting. I’ll get back to you when I find out.

       Actually, I also have a class that ends exactly at 3, and will be arriving late as well. Solidarity, brother.

   I think that Marvel will last a long time, purely because there is so much they can do with it, so many characters and comics they can base it on, although personally I feel that they need to take a break because there are sooo many TV shows and movies and overlaps and it’s getting a little much, but they’re also missing things out because they’re trying to do it so quickly.
   And Star Wars, well I think they are trying to do what they have done with marvel and have all these different stories about different characters but the source material just isn’t there like with the Marvel comics, I think maybe what will happen is what keeps happening where they release movies then it goes away and comes back again because then there will be a new generation to get excited about it.
   I did listen to most of the fuzzy bit, it sounded like you all had kazoos!

12. Hello again, conspiracy cowbells. I think that both Star Wars and Marvel have the possibility of lasting forever, due to the high number of possibilities/source material, but I’m not sure how long people will want them to be kept around. Sort of like a certain member of this podcast who shall remain Adonisless. Whenever I think of Star Wars and Marvel movies going on for decades or even centuries, it reminds me of the Futurama episode titled ‘The Late Philip J. Fry,’ where Fry and Professor Farnsworth and Bender literally watch the universe come to an end multiple times. I’ve shed many a tear watching that episode. In the meantime, this week on Netflix, I’d like to recommend Full Metal Jacket, which is my personal favorite Kubrick movie. I always think of the drill sergeant from that movie when I see J.K. Simmons in Whiplash, and Vincent D’onofrio hit the ground running in the late 80’s as Private Pyle. I’m running out of words, so farewell, and don’t forget that if you want to catch a mouse, you’ve got to think like a mouse.

    • May I recommend a Netflix whatchamacallit? I choose All Hail King Julien the T.V. Series prequel to the original Madagascar. They even put in a lot of abandoned concepts from the first movie in there. Throw in Julien’s stupidity and Mort’s irresistible cuteness its sure to make anyone laugh. Also, how ironic is it that when I bring up the background noise all the noise cuts out? (I’m picking)

13. Star Wars will not last forever. Marvel will last the next two decades. I think the real question is, will the Kick Ass franchise last forever?
