This week on the podcast, we discuss our most anticipated movies of 2016. From Pixar and comic books to wizards and french cartoons, we discuss which films are on track to become new favorites.
We also briefly discuss our favorite movies of 2015 to kickoff the show (and there are some surprises, for sure). Feel free to add your favorite 2015 movie to the comments below.
QUESTION OF THE WEEK: Which 2016 movies are you looking forward to the most?
Let us know your thoughts (and your favorite podcast moments) in the comments, which we may read on next week’s show! And be sure to rate the podcast on iTunes and/or Stitcher, where you can also download this episode. Or just Tweet us…@NowConspiring
Our Song of the Week is “Stand By You,” a new pop favorite from Rachel Platten’s latest album, Wildfire. Enjoy!
Obviously Finding Dory. And Zootopia.
The school for good and evil (if it’s made in 2016) and Fantastic Beasts movie
Obviously Angry Birds.
Just kidding. You’d have to be mad.
Finding Dory I’m looking forward too, and possibly Kung Fu Panda 3 as well.
Hold on. They’re making a fifth Ice Age, set in space? WTH?
So, there you go. Two unmissable films, two ones that are probably rubbish.
Hello again, you Conspiracy calculators. Don’t worry, it’ll be a while before I run out of ‘c’ words and I have to resort to profanity. In more cinematic news, my favorite movie of 2015 was also The Hateful Eight, and my most anticipated movie of 2016 is Silence, for the simple reason of it being directed by Martin Scorsese. Also, since you guys have requested it several times, I have created a Skype account and sent a friend request to who I believe to be Jon. If that didn’t work, my username is samwisethenotsobrave, all one word in lower case. And finally, my Netflix rec. is Tom Segura: Mostly Stories, the first new comedy special this year. Farewell, and give us this day as we forgive those who so proudly we hail.
I’m looking forward to Zootopia, Moana, maybe Dory, but I’m most excited for a Japanese CGI animated film called Robodog, if it actually comes out this year. Very little info has come out about that film but an old interview mentioned Spring 2016 so we’ll see.
Hey guys long time fan of the podcast sorry I haven’t commented. My most anticipated movies are Dory and Star Wars Vll. Here’s a comeback question what are your top ten movies of all time?
I know you didn’t ask me, but if you’re curious, here’s my top ten favorites of all time:
To Kill A Mockingbird
Raging Bull
Bicycle Thieves
Taxi Driver
Raiders of the Lost Ark
Seven Samurai
Goodfellas
Psycho
The Shawshank Redemption
Pulp fiction
Going from ten to one. The numbers didn’t appear for some reason.
You commenters can answer to if you didn’t know.
I’ll put my top ten later I can’t remember all of them. If you want you may add honorable mentions for your top ten.
Wait are you pulling my leg? Fifth Ice Age? In space?! Are they on crack? That’s crazy!
They’ probably are, yes 😛
I’m not pulling your leg one bit. It even has a ‘bipolar llama’ in it! Check the first reference if you don’t believe me. https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Ice_Age:_Collision_Course
Ice Age with:
-Wooly mammoths
-Scrat in space with a fully working spacesuit
-A race of evil llama
Oops, accidentally pressed enter. For ‘G’, read ‘The Third Man’. Ahem.
Sorry that was probably over dramatic I take it back.
I think that is the right reaction,
I like P1XRK1NG’s question. I can only think of the new Star Wars as my top ten for now. I probably won’t be back. I like to browse.
In regards to the whale vs. whale shark issue here, the whale in Finding Nemo is most likely a humpback whale which is around 52 feet long whereas a whale shark is around 42 feet long. That 10 ft difference isn’t that much to account for the whale sharks ability to talk to Dory different than the whale did. However, whales use echolocation to communicate and whale sharks do not, which would explain the different communications. Which would make you question how the beluga whale will be able to communicate with Dory normally, but the beluga whale 1: is significantly smaller than the humpback and what shark and 2: have a wide vocal range and are therefore called the “sea canaries” for being able to produce so many different sounds, and therefore would be able to communicate with Dory normally
Also, my favorite movie of 2015 (which is coincidentally my favorite space movie ever) is The Martian. And the movie I’m most looking forward to in 2016 is Zootopia. After getting the opportunity to see the footage released at D23 and each trailer that has been released since then, I’m very confident in this movie. Also, there’s an adorable, and hysterical scene with Nick Wilde (the fox voiced by Jason Bateman) and a much smaller fox who’s supposed to be his adopted son. But I’m pretty that the other fox is in fact a fennec fox which is just a super tiny fox that could pose as an infant. I think this because Nick uses the other fox to swindle Judy Hopps (the rabbit voiced by Ginnifer Goodwin) into buying them a giant popsicle which they then use to make lots of cash
I don’t know which movie, but I am still waiting for the completed Pixar Detective.
I’m really excited for The Boy, The Witch, and 31. With 2016 being filled with a bunch of sequels like Rings and The Purge 3 its kinda hard to look forward to horror movies this year. But at least there are still a handful of non sequels. Let’s just hope that they are better than The Forrest.
Hi! Did you read my blog? Plz say what you think! I need a critic… like “YOU” AHA bye thank you!
You are the best person to help
RIP Alan Rickman. 1946-2016
Jon, Jon, Jon, Jon, I am very disappointed, the BFG, stands for Big Friendly Giant. I am 23, and I grew up on the BFG, I can’t count how many times I have seen the 1989 cartoon film, maybe it never reached America so I guess I forgive you. It stars David Jason as the BFG, http://m.imdb.com/name/nm0419248/?ref_=m_tt_cl_i1 it is a great film and I highly recommend it.
I have a lot more than 8 films that I am looking forward to in 2016, here are the ones I want to see the most, in no particular order…
Moana
My Big Fat Greek Wedding
Doctor Strange
Suicide Squad
Jungle Book
Zootopia
Kung fu Panda
Tarzan
Dead Pool
Fantastic Beasts and Where to Find Them
Miss Peregrine’s Home For Peculiars
Girl on the Train
Alice Through the Looking Glass
And of course, the BFG.
I don’t know if I said it already but here are the films I’m looking forward to:
Star Wars Vlll
Zootopia
Kung Fu Panda
And Obviously Finding Dory.
Maybe I’ll go to Ice Age 5 just to see what happens know what I mean? Because even though I am frustrated with this it kind of makes sense since they already did the continental drift so next they will probably do the asteroid that killed the dinosaurs since there is a movie already about the dinosaurs(my favorite one).
Inside Out is my favorite film of the year. Haven’t seen The Good Dinosaur yet I want to see it on my birthday either that or the aforementioned Kung Fu Panda.
