I’m joined on the podcast this week by writers Maria Garcia, Adonis Gonzalez, and Mike Overkill has we explore Inside Out and Dope, the two new movies that came out this past weekend. Also on the show is digital artist, Kayla Savage, who comments on animation and other interesting topics I know nothing valuable about.
We also cover some of the top entertainment headlines and discuss our Netflix recommendation this week. Here’s out big question to you all…

(From Brazil) In my childhood I was obcessed with A bug’s life, watched it a million times (can barely watch ir now even though still love it) – Now I’d say my favourite one is Wall-E because it tries to convey a very specific message and complex plot with almost no dialog in a “kid friendly manner” which sounds like a suicide mission if you ask me.
Think about it – Almost all pixar movies are about buddies trying to understand each other and trying to get along while Wall-E has a very positive message about being yourself and standing for what you believe in no matter what. Eva was there for romance (so cute) and the buddy is a cockroach in the beginning and ending of the movie.
Also I think we all can agree Inside out is amazingly creative, but as positive as the message it has is, the concept is not nearly as original as wall-E.
And that got me thinking … if Wall-e has feelings then “he” has emotions inside his head ! I wanna see ’em !!!!
Dude, how on EARTH did you get the idea that WALL-E is about standing up for what you believe in?
I mean, I can understand if you thought the message was to take care of the earth. Everyone seems to think that’s the message.
But the message to stand up for what you believe in? I mean, seriously? I can’t imagine how you got that. I really don’t mean to insult you, but I just don’t understand how you got that.
Just to clear it up ( for EVERYBODY ), the intended message was that love can overcome anything, even programming. The love in the story wasn’t meant to be “cute”; it was the whole story.
Again, sorry if I was rude. I just wanted to clear that up.
WALL-E is my all-time favorite animated film (above PRINCESS MONONOKE) as well as my 2nd all-time favorite film in general (below SEVEN SAMURAI and above ACE IN THE HOLE).
Princess Mononoke is in my top 5 Animated movie list for sure!
I love all the Pixar movies, so much and have seen them far too many times, but my favorite would have to be Nemo.
My favorite Pixar Movie (and favorite animated movie) is Toy Story 3. There is good competition, but Toy Story 3 still reigns supreme in my book.
I think the Incredibles is objectively the best movie. WALLE being a close second, and then Finding Nemo.
I’ve been listening to the show for a while now and I want to just say that you guys always nail the song of the week. My music library thanks you.

Anywhoooo my favorite Pixar movie is Ratatouille, but I think the overall BEST is Toy Story 3. How can any other compare?
Ok, Inside Out was totally awesome, except they killed of (Spoiler) Bing-Bong (Spoiler) That totally downed me. But it is definitely in my Top Three right after The Incredibles and Toy Story. I would say Monster”s Inc, but Monsters University messed up the storyline for that what with them saying they meet in kindergarten in Inc, but insinuating that they meet in collage during University. Also I dislike Wall-e and Ratatoille, I think they are both kind of boring movies. Also, Toy Story 2 is just a filler for the other two better movies. Maybe I feel that way because I don’t like Jessie at all!

My answer is Finding Nemo. Yeah, so I saw Dope too and I agree with the review for the most part. It was a lot of fun but it’s not really a theater movie if that makes sense. I bet it’ll kick ass (3) on redbox.
High Fidelity is a great Netflix pick. It came out in 2000, so you were both pretty close!
I’m a big fan of Monsters Inc and Monsters University, so I’m with Kayla. By the way, I totally respect Mike for preferring Indiana Jones to Star Wars. That’s an unpopular opinion…but you’re not alone.

It’s two months Maria
The Incredibles is the best (and my favorite) Pixar movie! The family dynamic is accurate, the score is fantastic and there’s a great balance of heart, action and comedy. It’s just one of those movies where every time I watch it I get something different out of it. I’m SO excited for Incredibles 2. Also, I love your podcasts – especially the Now Conspiring Game Show! I always like to learn more trivia about my favorite movies!
I know it’s the popular opinion and I really want to say something different, but my favorite just has to be the first Toy Story. However, the one I think is the objective best is Ratatouille, because everything seems to be excactly the way it should, if that makes sense. For the podcast MVP, I like everyone in it but I would have to choose between Maria and Adonis because they were able to handle all of the playful insults quite well.
I lava this podcast.
My favorite is Wall-e. It has the best message overall, and it’s certainly the riskiest movie they ever made it.
THE PIXAR THEORY IS ACTUALLY A SPLIT TIMELINE THANKS TO MIKE AND SULLEY
How can you choose between them? It’s like trying to pick a favorite child. I have to go with Toy Story 3, though.
My favourite Pixar movie is WALL-E. With the cool setting, great characters, and an awesome message (that love can overcome programming, NOT to help the environment or to be yourself), how could it not be?
Also, a couple of people have been saying that they “dislike” WALL-E. To them, I say:
HOW THE F*** CAN YOU HATE WALL-E!?!
My favorite Pixar movie is DEFINETLY Up. Adventure is out there!!!
