This isn’t the Chronological Order. This is the correct order for viewing the MCU story. You can watch it in chronological order if you like, but it’s not the order that the creators intended. They planned to jump around in time in order to properly set up these characters and the events surrounding them.
No I don’t agree with that at all. It is logical to watch a story on chronological order and the MCU works best viewed in this way.

I don’t really watch Agents of S.H.I.E.L.D. Do you think it’s worth watching alongside the actual movies?
They are introducing lots of characters in the series (like Graviton). I’m sure some will make their way to the big screen. And of course the movies events affect directly the show (extremis, Hydra…).
Such a hard show to get into though. I only made it two episodes before I lost interest. By the time I decided to pick it up again, Hulu had already removed the episodes I needed to catch up. And of course Netflix is nowhere to be found.

Trust me, the early episodes seem really generic, but that’s because they’re letting us get to know the characters. The show gets super interesting once the team gets turned on its head. Stick with it, because it becomes really, really, good.

I watched the whole 1st season on NetFLix and was hooked. Waiting for season 2 to come to NetFlix. I absolutely hate commercials and will wait for all things to come to Netflix.

Netflix has season two now, which is what turned the series around. Yeah, season one kinda sucks, but season two is pretty great. Also ties into “Inhumans”.
If you dont watch shield, you will be way confused as to why coulson is around in the second avengers movie when he died in the first….just saying….
oh you really should watch the Agents of S.H.I.E.L.D. it is worth the time. I watched it in 2 days. I couldn’t get enough. My wife got mad at me for taking the TV for that long.
That’s just the release order, not necessarily the “correct” order, which is subjective.
Personally, I’d love to see someone cut together the movies in correct chronological order: start with scenes from Thor that are way back in time, cut to Captain America, back in WWII, then mix together the other movies so that all the scenes are correct chronologically (unless they need to be a flashback for some reason). It might be a little hard to follow, but would definitely be interesting.
that would be pretty awesome if done right. Similar to how Topher Grace did a supercut of the Star Wars prequels.

The only DC movies that are part of the same continuity as the upcoming film series are the recent Superman movies.
There is only 1 DC movie that has been released that is part of the DC Comics Shared Universe
Also, because it’s only one movie, it is not a shared universe (yet).
hey jon (and everyone), concerning the “correct viewing order”, i made a cut of everything in the Marvel Cinematic Universe that happens chronologically. Starting with Thor the Dark World inro, then Thor intro, then The Red Skull finds the tesseract, Steve’s mom dies and he and Bucky talk, then all of Cap 1 ~~~~all the way up to Howard the Duck’s cameo in GOTG!

The X-men film series is separate to the MCU, marvel entertainment own the rights for Thor, Cap, the Hulk, Iron man etc., but fox own the rights for x-men. There wouldn’t be a cross-over unless marvel and fox came to an agreement, which might be possible one day, I mean, just look at what happened with sony and Spider-man…

I would actually start the marathon by watching Captain America: The First Avenger.
If you do that, you see the scene right before the Avengers several movies too early. First Avenger may be set in an earlier time, but the last few scenes aren’t.

I have never seen one of the movies prior to watching The Avengers today. However, I haven’t MISSED one episode of Marvel’s Agents of S.H.I.E.L.D since it began. TOTALLY hooked me (which is why I tried a movie), can’t wait to back up and watch the movies in order now! The TV version totally helped me understand the movies. Obviously the outrageous special effects and constant action aren’t there-but hey-TV! If they solved everything in 2-3 hours then what would we watch??
I recently watched Iron Man 2 directly followed by The Incredible Hulk, and it seems to me that this order is a little (very little) better than the other way around. This comes from the ending scene of Hulk, where Tony Stark comes in talking about “assembling a team”, which should coincide with the events at the end of Iron Man 2. So I’d recommend these two to swap places, but since there are no real overlaps except this, it’s really just a minor thing.
