The Pixar Detective: The Complete Part 1

The day has finally come. 5 months, 10 chapters, and over 200 pages later, we’ve arrived at the e-book release for Part 1 of The Pixar Detective.

Obviously, I couldn’t have done it without the irreplaceable Kayla Savage, our equally savage illustrator. She pulled in extra hours these past two weeks to give you guys a cover and a bunch of new sketches to fill the pages of this book.

And of course, we would have given up a long time ago if it wasn’t for all of the love and support you guys sent our way in the emails and comments since Chapter 1. You guys are truly the best, and you’ve made writing and drawing The Pixar Detective way more fun than it probably should be.

Also, we finally settled on a name for Part 1! I won’t spoil it here, but you’ll notice that we went ahead and combined a bunch of your suggestions into one! Thanks for your submissions, and we hope you’re up for doing the same as we move into Part 2.

So here is Part 1. It includes the first 10 chapters of the story (soon to be followed by the next 10, of course) but in e-book format. So now you can read and share the story in one document. We published this using iBooks, so you’ll notice that the animations, artwork, and design are ridiculously smooth and fun to look at.

Of course, I’ve provided a PDF format just in case you can’t view the iBooks version (but I strongly recommend you use the iBooks/e-book version. It looks amazing by comparison).

Enjoy!

  1. Is there a way you could make the iBook available on iPhone?

    • Unfortunately, it’s only available on iPad and Mac. To view on your phone, you have to use the PDF. Sorry about that! I would if I could.

      • I see. Thanks anyway. Your work is still fantastic. Can’t wait for Chapter 11/Part 2: Chapter 1 (How are you going to number that anyway?)!

        • Haha, it will be Chapter 11 of Part 2. I’m modeling it the way C.S. Friedman did for her Magister Trilogy.

  2. There should be a trailer for the book, an animated trailer or something! A book trailer!

I have no clue how animate, but if someone can make a trailer, I know what the the soundtrack should be: Don’t listen to a word I say!

    • Interesting idea, though I’m pretty sure an animated trailer would just make people sad that the whole thing isn’t animated!

The illustrator, Kayla, is actually studying animation and would probably jump at the chance to do something like that down the road. Who knows?

  3. SPOILERS
I just read to chapter 6 and I like how you included Alec Azam from the pixar short Presto. Are you including all pixar shorts (considering that it is made by pixar) in the Pixar universe because if you are then babies are born from clouds and then the storks come to deliver from Partly Cloudy, and that the moon is only like 30 feet away from earth from la Luna. I also like how you come up with names for certain things like Ratzen’s Collectibles the voice actor John Ratzenberger that appears in almost every movie and the Agent having the names of people being in Finding Nemo Peaches- Star, Willem- the voice actor of Gill I can’t wait to read the rest.

    • Am I including all Pixar shorts? Can’t say. Maybe. Probably not.

And congrats on catching what most people miss! I was starting to think no one was going to catch the Ratzen’s reference.

  4. NEW PIXAR DETECTIVE TOMORROW!
Who will Cara be? Where will our heroes end up? Will Hexagon evolve to become BnL?
Tomorrow is the new season of Pixar Detective, it will be awesome!

  5. I am no longer sure the place you are getting your info, however good topic. I must spend some time studying much more or figuring out more. Thanks for fantastic info I used to be looking for this info for my mission.
