The Pixar Detective, Chapter 10: The Peculiar Professor

Hey everyone! Welcome to The Pixar Detective, a serial novel I put together based on the Pixar Theory. The following is a fictional story that explains the theory that all of the Pixar movies are connected and exist within the same universe, using original characters and artwork. The story answers a lot of questions you may have about this theory, but through its own ongoing narrative.

The story originally launched in April, and we’ve recently completed Part 1!

It is available as an iBook on iTunes, which you can check out here. If you can’t use iBooks, you can also download the PDF version.

Once you’re finished, check back to our Table of Contents, where we’ll be continuing the story through Part 2. A new chapter is released every two weeks on Tuesdays. And please be sure to leave your feedback in the comments for us to read through. Enjoy!

pixar detective chapter 4

Stevin Parker, Wallaby Jones, and Alec Azam (the Peculiar Professor) have teamed up with a small, purple monster named Mr. Sumner in their pursuit of their missing friend, Mary. They’ve traveled in time to 1935 and have found themselves inside a government facility called “the Hexagon,” which is run by a maniac named “the Maestro.”

pixar detective chapter 8

After splitting up, Stevin and Mr. Sumner were captured by the Maestro, who revealed his pet project to them: a girl named Sadie who has incredible powers and is known as the first “super.” Her power, which the Maestro calls “Dominion,” allows her to transform parts of her body and senses into animals, giving her incredible strength and speed.

Meanwhile, Wallaby made his way to Level 9, a research lab filled with strange cages and experiments. He was discovered by Willem and Flo, two of the Hexagon’s deadliest agents who are also a part of “Project Superlative,” which involves Sadie. Though they captured him, Alec showed up just in time to distract the agents and give Wallaby time to flee through a metal door that may contain more answers than even Wallaby realizes.

      • Is that what Part 2 is? If so, yes, I am. Mysterious title, but I’ll take it!

Was my title idea part of the actual title?

Sorry for the delay, I had the notify follow-up turned off.

        • Yup! I combined your idea with a few others. And no, I’ve never seen Into the Woods, sadly. Part 2 picks up right where Part 1 left off, more or less. Albeit with some…unfamiliar faces.

  1. Wow, Wow, Wow!

That was great! I was reading page 17 when I noticed that there was still more.
Well, now we know where Roz came from, and Alec (rabbit form).

    Really good chapter.

I found a few things that may need fixing, though.

On page 16 Sadie thinks “He really did save his best for last. she thought.” I think that period after ‘last’ should be a comma.

The second one on page 25 Randall says “You must be friends with Alec and…what was your
name again? Wallaby?” I’m kind of thinking that the “your” might should be “his” referring to Wallaby, not Stevin. He even looks over to Alec and Wallaby after he says that. I may have just misunderstood that sentence, though.

The last one is on page on page 26 “…teeth, but she flashed into a fly, easily dodging his bit.” I think “bit” should be “bite.”

Sorry if I sound critical, I just want this to be the best it can be.

This chapter is really great, though. I can tell you both put a lot of time into it.
By the way, I found Kayla’s blogspot website [ http://sketchingsavage.blogspot.com/ ] this past week too. Pretty cool.

Thank Kayla for all the sketches this week.

    • I absolutely appreciate it! It’s amazing what manages to get past the editors, so I consider you our last line of defense!

And yes, Kayla’s website is fantastic. I let her know personally that you guys are appreciating the sketches!

  2. Amazing chapter! Will part 1 include some bonus content? Also, my name for part 1 is: the peculiar avengers

    • YES! The e-book is going to have some extra stuff thrown in, along with edits and extra tidbits to the story I’m adding in several areas. Think of it as “Pixar Detective Unrated.” The best part will certainly be having all of the chapters in one place.

  3. Part 1: Traveling Into Doors

  4. you should write a script to pixar so they can produce a movie..IT WOULD BE EPIC

      • Hey, don’t sell yourself short! Pixar would love something like this! Hey, you have the makings of a movie writer anyway, taking months to write the story and leave everyone waiting years with small details!

        KIDDING!

      • yeah but you can always try…like stooky sauce said..DONT SELL YOURSELF SHORT. you could at least tell them about this story, they might like it! i know i do!!

  5. I am speechless! I want to be shocked in this conclusion, and I was! The artwork is also awesome! You and Kayla make a great team! See you in September!

    • Glad you liked it Anthony! You’ll probably also like the artwork we added to the e-book for Part 1. Don’t forget to check it out!

  6. For a title, I suggest “Put That Thing Back Where It Came From, Or So Help Me…”

    • Kayla suggested the exact same thing at one point, and of course, we both broke out into song and got nothing done for the rest of the evening. It’s a dangerous tune.

  7. I’ve just started reading The Pixar Detective (I’m on issue 5) and I’m loving it but I have a giant adition to the theory. From what I understand about The Good Dinossaur it’s about a world where dinossaurs and humans live the same. Now this could be part of the timeline in two ways. The first one is that it’s set in the past and the story is that the humans killed all the dinossaurs and took over the earth. Everything that happens after is retribution for what they did. The other way that it can be seen is that it’s actually set in the future after Monsters Inc. The monsters have transformed into dinossaurs and the humans are living with them. The movie will probably be about the humans and the dinossaurs being in conflict and by the end they will have peace. If my prediction is true and we go with the second idea of it being in the future then the whole story ends up being about the humans and the animals living in equality. The robots would probably end up joining them and eventually all lives would be treated the same. If all the Pixar Shorts are also part of the universe then I think that Partly Cloudy could be how the humans returned to the planet. A race sentient cloud like beings started to repopulate earth and the humans came back.

    • Great thoughts David! They’re reworking the story of Good Dinosaur, actually, and of course, we don’t really know much about the film yet to say anything about how it fits into the supposed shared universe. We’ll see if you’re right!

  8. Part 2 Prediction : Stevin, Wallaby, Sadie, and Mr. Sumner end up in the time of BnL’s rise and the animal rebellion is brewing in an attempt to find Mary, while the Hexagon is trying to locate them.

    • Interesting prediction. I think you’re going to enjoy where Chapter 11 goes, as it may surprise you.

  9. I’m loving it!!! I think the title should be “She’s Out of Our Hair”

    • The world’s biggest smile crept across my face when I read that. Probably because I just watched Monster’s Inc on the bus, and of course, you’re referring to Mike singing that line. I was very close to using this for the title, you should know!
